The CBp Carbon Solution

Previous attempts to recycle tires profitably have failed primarily because there has been no way to economically upgrade the by-products of the recycling process into commodities for which there is a market demand.

CBp Carbon has exclusively licensed a patented technology that achieves this goal.

The technology, which CBp Carbon has acquired for 25 years, also upgrades the by-products of tire pyrolysis into clean-burning gas which can be used to generate electricity.

However, the major breakthrough is that for the first time, the technology allows for the economic upgrading of the raw carbonaceous char, one of the by-products of the process, into a commercial substitute for carbon black, a main commodity for the rubber and plastics industries, for example in the automotive parts and tire sector, amongst others.

The technology is the first fully integrated approach of thermal and mineral technologies to tire recycling that is both environmentally and economically viable.

The process:

1. Uses pyrolysis (heating in the absence of oxygen or other reactants) to efficiently and reliably reduce the tires to three basic components: carbonaceous char, steel, and volatiles.

2. Converts the volatiles first to synthesis gas and then burns that gas to produce clean electricity for resale.

3. Upgrades the char to produce CBp, a high-value commercial substitute for carbon black, whose properties have been proven to satisfy the demands of the industry producing rubber products; and

4. Offers extremely clean operations that cause no detrimental environmental impact.
